Popped here on way back from Cardiff for a first time visit since the make over and it was superb. Best pub meal I have eaten in a long, long time. It's a little pricier than other pubs locally but I don't mind that if it's good food and this was. Only slight issue was it was a little cold in there but other than that it was top notch.

Fabulous Inn with very comfortable rooms, free parking and a fabulous pub/restaurant serving quality, locally sourced meals. We were going to the Wales v Scotland rugby at the Principality stadium, and stayed for two nights. There was a bus stop a few minutes walk from the hotel into Cardiff (about 30 mins). The food, both dinner and breakfast, was amazing, served by efficient and extremely friendly staff. We'll be back!!

We were a group of 6 couples booked a table for 1pm. Service of the msin course was dreadfully slow and was not served until after 3pm. No apology made for slow service until we drew the managers attention. They explained the delay was because they were very busy, which is no excuse. The food was okay, Our waitress was very good and obviously the delay was not her fault, Worth mentioning about the car parking. I have since heard of customers being fined for not registering their vehicle numbers. I happened to park facing a sign which was in very small print and not clearly visible. On entering the restaurant we were not advised by staff to enter our car numbers. It was fortuitous that I noticed the sign beforehand. Others in our group in 4 cars were not made aware of the signs by staff when entering the restaurant. Poor management, not going there again.

Have visited about half a dozen time since opening with both friends and family. Have tried a variety of starters and mains. Tend to try out the specials menu which changes regularly and keeps meals exciting. Really loved a chicken and veg soup of the day I had. Scallops are also well cooked. Crawfish tail was exceptional. Some mains I have enjoyed include a salt baked sea bass, sea bream, lobster, duck breast, swordfish. Always been happy with the food. Fillet steak is always a go to for my wife and always cooked to her liking. The chips are second to none!!! Our children love the sausage, chips and peas. Great quality butchers sausages. Great wine list selection to suit all budgets. Very happy to say this is our preferred local restaurant for family meals.

We stayed here prior to a concert in Cardiff. It was a 20 minute drive into Cardiff but it was much cheaper than the hotels in the middle of the City. The rooms are basic, but they have everything you need and are clean, plus there is free parking. What makes this hotel stand out, is the service, the reception staff are friendly and helpful. Especially Carl who was on overnight, he returned my kindle to me, he didn't have to do this, but he did it on his day off. Thank you Carl! We had breakfast in the restaurant, it was stunning and reasonably priced, freshly cooked and table service, not buffet food here! Would definitely return

I dined here with friends yesterday and I have to share I was impressed. The decor was beautiful. It was extremely busy for a Friday lunch time as it is a very large place. We had to wait 5 mins at the bar, then directed to our table upstairs but when we arrived we were told it was not ready so were told to go back downstairs where we ordered drinks (not the best start). When we did get to our table the food ordered off the lunch time menu was across the board (starters and mains) were delicious. We will certainly be returning. The staff that attended to us were very pleasant too. Unfortunately we were too busy talking to take photos. Nice menus choices.

⸻ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had an absolutely fantastic meal at The Coach and Horses, Castleton. The food was outstanding – I had the gambas pil pil followed by the hake in garlic oil, and both dishes were genuinely sensational, full of flavour and perfectly cooked. My family ordered the fillet and sirloin steaks, and every one of them said it was the best steak they’ve ever had, which says it all. All perfectly cooked as ordered, which is a rare find. The service was brilliant throughout – friendly, attentive, and delivered by happy, welcoming staff who really added to the experience. The atmosphere was warm and relaxed, making it a lovely place to enjoy a meal. Highly recommended, and we will definitely be returning.

We live relatively locally to the pub so thought we’d try it out as it has recently been refurbished & taken over (it was previously a Beefeater). We decided to try a cooked breakfast which ch was quite reasonably priced. My husband had the Eggs Benedict, he felt that although good quality ingredients had been used, the plate was swimming in the Hollandaise sauce which overpowered it a bit for him. I had the full Welsh breakfast which was absolutely delicious & had good quality ingredients, especially the sausages. The decor is much improved since it was a Beefeater, it is much lighter and brighter and generally more pleasant. We are looking forward to returning to try the evening menu.
